Borkum West 2 (Trianel)

The Trianel wind farm Borkum makes an important contribution to climate protection and the development of advanced wind energy generation on the open sea. The wind farm, which is located 45 km to the north of the German island of Borkum, will then have the capacity to supply about 200,000 households with electricity. In this way, the participating municipal utility companies and Trianel actively contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions.

Marten ten Boer, Project engineer at Seaway Heavy Lifting:

“Who is good at making large steel constructions and can do it quickly? My answer is Sif.’

Construction of the Trianel Borkum II wind farm, consisting of 32 turbines, started in the German North Sea in June 2018. Sif supplied thirty-two monopiles and transition pieces for this project. ‘The professionalism at Sif is top notch, as is the willingness to think in terms of solutions. When the production capacity of Maasvlakte 2came under pressure during this project, Sif solved the problem in a timely manner and in good consultation. WE hardly noticed anything at all. That is what I call
